Aldehydes
Organic compounds are present in many natural materials that can be synthesized artificially, such as the aliphatic aldehydes used to give sparkle to Chanel No. 5. Aldehyde adds an effervescent and bubbly almost kinetic feeling to fragrance. It first became popular in the 1920s with the launch of Chanel No. 5, making it one of the first synthetics in fragrance.
